Summer time is a time which is best enjoyed outdoors! With the sun beaming overhead, jugs of Pimms flowing enjoyed with family and friends, is there any better place to spend it then at the races? Here at Racing Breaks, we think not. This is the top 10 race meets you simply cannot miss this summer.


1) Sandown Coral-Eclipse - 7th & 8th July

The Coral Eclipse event hosts two great days of racing and epic summer party with after racing DJ set. The Coral-Eclipse is one of the biggest races on the planet and is famed for being the first time that the British classic generation can face their older peers at Group 1 level. Stars to have landed the Coral-Eclipse in recent years include Sea The Stars, Hawk Wing, the Australian champ So You Think, Nathaniel, Al Kazeem and Mukhadram.

2) Newmarket Moet & Chandon Festival - 13th & 14th July

Ladies Day at Newmarket is the hottest ticket of the summer. Visitors come from far and wide, donning their finest attire to enjoy brilliant racing. The competition is just as sizzling off the field in the Fashion at the Festival Best Dressed Lady competition sponsored by The Spa at Bedford Lodge Hotel. With an ever-increasing array of fabulous prizes on offer, this is a must for all female racegoers.

The Gentleman’s Day is an opportunity for the gents to take centre stage. Whether you come with your partner, family, friends or colleagues, this is an awesome day's racing and the opportunity to enjoy a day out at East Anglia’s most stylish summer event as well as live music in the evening!

3) Qatar Goodwood Festival - 1st - 5th August

Often hailed as the ‘Home of Champions’, Qatar Goodwood Festival has certainly seen its fair share of world class thoroughbreds over the years. As the most highly anticipated flat race of the year, the 5 day festival is not only a standout sporting highlight, but also a social one too, and coming during the peak of summer towards the end of July, has hence received the nickname ‘Glorious Goodwood’.

4) Ascot Food & Wine Festival 8th & 9th September

Alongside a seven race card headlined by the country’s most valuable mile-and-a-half handicap, racegoers can look forward to food and wines from around the world. More than 30 market stalls will be providing exciting products to view, sample and buy too. The perfect race meet to finish off the summer.

5) Tom Jones Live at Sandown Park - 19th July

Sandown makes our list for the second time but this time it's with Sir Tom Jones. He will be performing at Sandown Park Racecourse this July for a not to be missed night of hits covering an impressive five decades. With a career that has seen him sell in excess of 100 million records, Tom Jones has won countless accolades including a BRIT Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music and a Silver Clef Award for Lifetime Achievement.

6) Culture Club Live at Epsom Downs - 20th July

A throwback to the 80s at one of the most iconic racecourse in the country, this is bound to be a night to remember. Epsom Downs sits in the heart of the Surrey countryside, but still only a stone's throw away from london making it the ideal location to make a long weekend out of it.

7) Lingfield

Although there are no specific music nights yet confirmed at Lingfield (I’m sure this will change in due course) this is something which I can’t recommend highly enough! Lingfield is up there with some of the more picturesque racecourses in the country with its beautiful gardens. Moreover, the catering service is always top notch which is why this is a must visit racecourse this summer.

8) Royal Windsor Monday Night Racing ft. Revolution Beatles - 24th July

The Famous Monday Nights are back! Celebrate Monday Night Racing with a trip down memory lane and the 60s vibes from Revolution Beatles. Pop down for a great night of racing including one of our qualifiers for the 2017 Sky Bet Summer Sprint Series. All roads lead to August 21st for the £75,000 season finale.

9) Newbury Betfred Ladies Day With live performance from Olly Murs - 19th August

The highlight of Betfred Ladies Day is the £150,000 Group 2 Betfred Hungerford Stakes, won this year by Richard Pankhurst. The day will also feature six other exciting races and the ever popular ‘Most Stylish Racegoer’ competition. Newbury is always a great laugh and certainly one to add to your calendar this year.

10) Hamilton Park - 5th August

This is one of most glamorous events of the season, and there will be plenty on offer on this Super Saturday. With a fantastic shopping and pamper area, fashion shows from high street partners and of course the coveted Best Dressed Lady Competition. Hosted by top Capital Radio DJ’s, there'll be some amazing prizes up for grabs including £1000 cash for the winner. There will also be live celebrity entertainment throughout the afternoon and late into the evening.
