Miss Parfois made her chase debut over a trip that stretched her somewhat and will relish dropping back to two miles, five furlongs. This looks a good opportunity for her @ 7/2 and she should improve for the run at Uttoxeter. Theatre Territory must be respected after a good debut behind Casablanca Mix but she was well held by Miss Parfois when they met over hurdles at Sandown in February. The value option could well be Twenty Eight guns @ 8/1 who took a step back in the right direction when travelling well for the most part at Wetherby and will relish the softer conditions. Ground could be an issue for Timeforwest, Song Saa is looking a little exposed and Sparkling River needs to find more to win this.
With question marks surrounding Southfield Theatre and Abracadabra Sivola they are best watched today. Nine year old and Midlands Grand National second Mysteree makes his seasonal debut and can go well fresh but this trip may be on the short side for him. He is closely linked with Robinsfirth by Chase The Spud, both having succumbed to Fergal O’Brien’s improving stayer. Robinsfirth crept into the race last time despite being hampered early but found the heavy ground at Haydock too much of a stamina test. Three furlongs less will suit presuming his run behind Chase The Spud has not left its mark and has a good chance @ 5/2 while Wotzizname remains the unexposed horse, open to improvement and a leading contender in what is a small but competitive heat. Shanroe Santos is not out of this and can go well but this is a big jump up in class compared to the races he has been contesting.
Josies Orders has been nursed back to full health after having a year off and went close over the banks at Puchestown last time, losing out by a nose to Mtada. A winner of this race in 2015, Josies Orders has to be respected if not a little short @ 9/4. Mtada on the other hand could be a little big @ 11/1 and could well make the frame. Kingswell Theatre should go well again after being victorious in the November version of this race while Cantlow looks well handicapped with Donal Mclnerney’s five pound claim. These races are much more open affairs since they became handicaps and French raider Kapville has to be on the shortlist and is the dark horse @ 12/1.
The Dutchman, a good second to Sam Winner at Haydock has to be respected but there are potential improvers he could be susceptible to in this field while Champers On Ice, fifth in the same race did not convince over his hurdles when well fancied. Anteros should go well at a course and distance he loves after a good second to Thomas Campbell but may have form reversed with Rocky’s Treasure, who is still capable of improving. The improving six year old, Arthur’s Gift, came with a strong run to win at Market Rasen in November giving the impression three miles will suit and unexposed over this trip, can go well @ 11/2. At prices the resurgent Sykes and talented Shantou Bob should come into calculations at 25/1 and 16/1 respectively.
Quickened Clear’s Best Bets:
Miss Parfois – 1.55 Cheltenham – 1pt win @ 7/2
Arthur’s Gift – 340 Cheltenham – 1pt win @ 11/2
