York Ebor Festival - Day 2 Preview

Day 2 of the Festival is definitely one of the highlights of the week and is arguably the social highlight of the festival. Of course being ladies day, there is a large emphasis of fashion and one of the most popular events outside of the races is the Ebor Fashion Lawn where racegoers compete against each other to win the Best Dressed Racegoer! The winner this year will win a holiday to Dubai which also includes a trip to Meydan Racecourse - so this is definitely not one to miss out on!

In terms of the races, there are two Group races and one Listed race on the day, with all 3 being open to just fillies and mares. Our blog on Day 1 picked up loads of winners including EL ASTRONAUTE who came in at a price of 10/1, GINGER NUT and of course ROARING LION who won in impressive fashion. Hopefully the winners keep on coming as we head into day two of the festival!

Sky Bet Lowther Stakes (Group 2)

FAIRYLAND is currently favourite but hasn’t been seen since coming 3rd at Royal Ascot in a race that also saw ANGEL’S HIDEAWAY place fourth. However, since then ANGEL’S HIDEAWAY has run twice coming second to 1000 guineas favourite Pretty Pollyana and most recently won at Ascot.

Darley Yorkshire Oaks (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (Fillies & Mares)

The Darley Yorkshire Oaks is the feature race of the day and was won last year by the unstoppable Enable, who went on to win L’Arc De Triomphe. This year should prove to be a competitive race with the likes of SEA OF CLASS, LAURENS and CORONET all entered this year. CORONET was second in the race last year 5L behind Enable, can she do one better this year? She is a horse that is always placing in the top races so I expect to see her go close. SEA OF CLASS goes into this race favourite after 3 wins on the bounce including a Group 1 win in her latest race the Irish Oaks, over the same distance which is the race Enable won last year as well. However, my pick would have to be LAURENS, although she has not yet run over this distance, she has won her last two races in France which were both Group 1s, she was also 2nd in the Guineas.

British EBF & Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes (Listed Race) (Fillies & Mares)

LAH TI DAR is the only horse for me in this race. Winning a Listed race last time out at Newmarket by 3 and a half lengths I don't see her having a problem with any of the opposition here. SHAILENE could be worth some E/W value at 14/1 as she has races in Listed company before.

1:55 - Angel’s Hideaway 9/4 WIN

3:35 - Laurens 7/2 WIN

4:15 - Lah Ti Dar Evs WIN

Some other tips:

2:25 - He'Zanarab (won last time out at York) 11/2 & Concierge E/W 11/1

3:00 - Seniority 6/1

4:50 - Move swiftly 9/4 (won last time out at Goodwood) & Lincoln rocks 12/1 (won this race last year)
