York Ebor Festival - Day 3 Preview

Friday of the Ebor Festival has something for all with both sprinters and stayers taking stage, playing host to three Group races this is a day not to be missed. The biggest question on everyone's mind will be whether or not STRADIVARIUS can win the Lonsdale Cup and with it the Stayers million after already securing The Gold Cup at Royal Ascot and the Goodwood Cup at the Qatar Goodwood Festival.

Weatherbys Hamilton Lonsdale Cup Stakes (Group 2)

This race has been made even bigger this year due to the ever impressive STRADIVARIUS who in winning this race would win the Stayers Million. He is an odds on favourite and rightly so having looked unbeatable this season, he is a true stayer and battles it out till the end. IDAHO is a high price at 9/1 and is well worth an E/W bet in my opinion.

Al Basti Equiworld Gimcrack Stakes (Group 2)

This race looks very competitive to me and hard to pick a winner however, THE IRISH ROVER has run in two Group races having lost last time out by only a length to Advertise who is 2nd favourite for next years 2000 guineas. That most recent performance puts him ahead of the rest for me. I like the look of SHOWOUT and could be worth E/W value at 12/1, having won his last two and the most recent by 5L, it looks the best of the high prices.

Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes (Group 1)

This race is all about BATTAASH, he has to brush off his disappointing performance here 12 months ago and prove why he is an odds on favourite, I can’t see anything opposing him however there is some good E/W value in this race. JUDICIAL has won his last two, with his most recent win coming in the Coral Charge and at 16/1 he is a huge price, so is MUTHMIR who has run a lot of big races this season and placed in his last 4 starts, at 25/1 I see him being up there as well.

Summary:

2:25 - Stradivarius WIN, Idaho 9/1 E/W

3:35 - The Irish Rover WIN, Showout 12/1 E/W

4:15 - Battaash WIN, Judicial and Muthmir both E/W

Battaash and Stradivarius Double as they are both so short

Some other tips:

1:55 - Mister Belvedere (Run twice at York this year coming 1st and 2nd) 16/1 E/W

4:15 - Sky Defender 5/2

4:50 - Crack On Crack On 13/2

Odds correct at time of writing (4:30pm Thursday)
