How it works

Each participant will get five rides as they bid to win the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup for their team. There are six races throughout the day over varying distances with 10 horses in each contest. Each team will have two or three horses per race, divided so that all the jockeys have five rides in the competition. Once the final fields are confirmed the jockeys will be randomly allocated to the horses for each race.

1st – 15 points, 2nd – 10 points, 3rd – 7 points, 4th – 5 points, 5th – 3 points

The Teams

Each team has three riders, stellar international names. Every jockey is guaranteed five rides for their team. The teams are divided into: Europe, Great Britain & Ireland, The Girls & Rest of the World.

The individual top jockey will be awarded the Alistair Haggis Silver Saddle. One jockey will also receive the Dubai Duty Free Ride of the Day Award chosen by the sponsors and awarded by John Reid and Joe Mercer.

The jockeys will wear team silks in distinctive colours: Green for Great Britain & Ireland, Blue for Europe, Yellow for Rest of the World and Pink for the Girls.

The team with the highest points across the six races is the winner and points are scored as follows:

1st – 15 points, 2nd – 10 points, 3rd – 7 points, 4th – 5 points, 5th – 3 points
