The Dubai World Cup 2017

The Dubai World Cup “The World’s richest horse race” has to be on your bucket list if you’re a racing enthusiast! Becoming more and more significant to the racing calendar each year and attracting the biggest stars in flat racing, it’s no wonder that it is the biggest sporting and social event in Dubai. Won by CALIFORNIA CHROME last year there is no doubt that the 2017 installment will produce a spectacular day's racing.

History

On March 26, 1993, Nad Al Sheba Racecourse played host to the first Dubai International Jockeys' Challenge (DIJC), this was the first international racing event Dubai had seen and helped pave the way for the creation of the Dubai World Cup.

The first Dubai World Cup was held in 1996 and pushed both Nad Al Sheba Racecourse and the UAE onto the global stage of horseracing with American wonder horse Cigar, claiming the first victory.  In 2010 the Dubai World Cup was held at the new iconic Meydan Grandstand and Racecourse. The visually stunning masterpiece is the new home for the Dubai World Cup and is the world's largest integrated racing facility, with a Grandstand over a mile long and a seating capacity for more than 60,000 people, plus amazing restaurants and a stunning hotel.

Hotel

Overlooking the Meydan racecourse, staying at the 5 star-luxury Meydan Hotel offers guests an all in one experience. Hospitality suites

For those of you travelling in a group The Meydan Grandstand is home to 74 luxurious hospitality suites offering spectacular views, racing excitement and fine food. Measuring from 50 square meters to 415 square meters, the suites can cater from 10 to 500 people and boast their own private terrace seating areas or own private balcony area.

Winners Circle Restaurant

Featuring a glass fronted dining area for perfect views of the racecourse, Meydan Grandstand signature restaurant spans across 2 levels. Guests also gain access to the Parade Ring lawns, allowing them a close up view of the horses in the Parade Ring.

Breakfast  with stars

Racing fans have the chance to enjoy breakfast with the Stars, which offers guests the opportunity to witness the morning track workout of the stars of the Dubai World Cup. Taking place at Meydan Racecourse on the morning of Thursday 23rd March, all guests have the chance to enjoy an Al Fresco Breakfast, interviews with the owners, trainers and jockeys, live commentary of the action on the racecourse, and live entertainment.


The Track Meydan Golf Course

A 9 hole golf course located adjacent to the Meydan racecourse, The Track, offers new pay-and-play golf at the world famous Dubai racecourse. The Track, Meydan Golf is a golf experience like no other in the UAE and has daily opening times of, 6:30 am - 11:00 pm.

Other things to do

Meydan racecourse is within a close distance of many of Dubai’s biggest attractions. If you have a chance to take the day out and visit the Burj Khalifa, The Dubai Mall and the Dubai Aquarium & underwater zoo. If that isn’t for you, you can always try the desert safari’s or Searide Dubai.
