Quickened Clears Winter Derby Preview & Exclusive Ratings

3.15 LINGFIELD - Betway Winter Derby Stakes – (Group 3) (4yo+) (1m 2f)

CONVEY – 128

Lightly raced group class gelding. Showed much improved attitude since being gelded and won this race last year. Not seen since May when weakening at Sha Tin. Good chance if in the form of twelve months ago.

Lightly raced group class horse. Finest hour came when winning the Brigadier Gerard at Sandown in May before disappointing on both efforts after. Could yet improve and should be thereabouts if handling the track.

KHALIDI – 126++

Group class colt. Defeated by top class types Permian and Crystal Ocean on last two starts but not seen since August. Open to improvement and should be finishing well if handling the track. May want further than ten furlongs.

Progressive mare. A half-sister to Derby winner Motivator who has improved throughout the winter culminating in an easy victory over Sharjah at Dundalk last month. Good chance.

Listed class gelding. Better than ever in November when defeating Victory Bond at Lingfield before going close behind Red Verdon at Kempton. Place claims but likely to find at least one too good.

MR OWEN – 122+

Listed class horse. Won a listed race in Deauville before a fair effort behind Arcanada in a tactically run affair at Wolverhampton. Could still be capable of better. Place claims.

UTMOST – 121++

Lightly raced listed class colt. Seemed to benefit from a change of tactics when front running to victory at Lingfield last time from Victory Bond. Open to improvement and should go well.
