1.55 Musselburgh – Western Duke – 1pt win @ 11/4

William Haggas does not often get it wrong when sending runners to Musselburgh and the progressive Reverend Jacobs should get his own way up front and will be hard to peg back. Western Duke looks the chief threat @ 11/4.

2.15 Haydock – Jack Regan – 1pt win @ 8/1

Both Sea Youmzain and Star Of Southwold will be of warm order here but neither are guaranteed stayers. Jack Regan, a relative of Brandon Castle, shaped on Thursday (behind a nice type in Corgi) as though this trip would suit and a he looks value @ 8/1.

2.30 Musselburgh – Line Of Reason – 1pt win @ 10/1

Line Of Reason ran a nice prep race at York last time and now seven pounds lower than when winning this race last year, is taken @ 10/1 to go in again with Joe Fanning re-united. El Astronaute will go well up the rail and has been in fine form but you can only go to the well so many times while Move In Time won very easily at Newmarket and along with Major Jumbo is a serious threat.

2.50 Haydock – Cribbs Causeway – 1pt win @ 11/2

God Given has much the best form on offer here, should strip fitter for her return at Ascot four weeks ago and is clearly the one to beat. Cribbs Causeway ran well at York on her seasonal debut and looks to have improved. She can give the favourite most to think about @ 11/2.

3.05 Newmarket – Stormbringer – 1pt win @ 11/1

Both Yafta and Georgian Manor look highly progressive with the latter on a very lenient mark. Both are drawn fairly wide and may find it hard to get into the race so the value lies with Strombringer @ 11/1 who ran well at Ascot last time, fading up the stiff finish, but will enjoy the faster July course.

3.25 Haydock – Judicial – 1pt win @ 7/2

Muthmir has not impressed on both his starts this year and age may be catching up with him while last year’s winner Final Venture may just want a little juice in the ground these days. Judicial, in contrast to Muthmir, seems to be getting better and produced his best effort yet in the Palace House, a repeat or improvement on that should see him go close @ 7/2.

3.40 Newmarket – Addicted To You – 1pt win @ 11/2

Mark Johnston won this race last year with an improving type in Jaameh and is taken to do it again in what is an open handicap. Addicted To You showed improvement at Chelmsford on his reappearance and though there is a slight doubt about the ground, looks the one to be on here.

4.00 Haydock – Emmaus – 1pt win @ 5/1

A blanket could be thrown over many of these on ratings. Tabarrak deserves utmost respect while D’bai’s best trip is over seven furlongs and is also a contender but the value lies with lightly raced Emmaus who showed his class to win on heavy ground at Leicester and should enjoy this faster surface. With more improvement he can go well @ 5/1.
